About the curriculum

Think Truth Today Curriculum Summary

2015 Edition of Think Truth Today
Think Truth Today is a new and improved  version of the Healthy Image of Sex curriculum  used by USPIE for the past twelve (12) years.  Based on the same “truth” principles as  Healthy Image of Sex, Think Truth Today  has been specifically designed to be culturally and age-appropriate for African American youth  high school age or older and at-risk youth.

Unfortunately, young people do not hear or see the truth about the potentially devastating and life-altering consequences of sex outside of marriage. Young people today are bombarded by media images and sounds that do not portray reality, which influence them to live promiscuous lifestyles that often lead to negative outcomes. Curriculum authors understand that statistics show that more than half of older youth are having sex, so they included prevalent themes that support a message to youth who have already been sexually active; encouraging them to choose an abstinent lifestyle going forward sometimes referred to as “renewed virginity.”

Young adults need to know the truth about the devastating consequences of sexual activity outside of marriage. They need to understand that the failed ideology of the past decades has placed them in very dangerous times and the only thing that will save them from the ill-conceived notion that sex outside of marriage is natural and inevitable is truth about consequences and benefits of abstaining until marriage. Think Truth Today is a unique approach to revealing truths about this issue.

Support Materials

The Think Truth Today companion student book will be used in this program as support material. The student book is essentially a narrative of the teacher’s manual providing an ongoing reference for principles taught in the curriculum. Students can take away the valuable information learned in the class and reference or reread the material periodically to affirm their abstinent lifestyle by owning the Think Truth Today student book. They will also be encouraged to share it with peers and particularly with their boy/girlfriends.
